Oh yes, we won!
Justin and Troy surprised us with an early morning photo from the Game Connection Development Awards at Game Connection Europe 2018. Two lovely pieces of shiny brass for the vault, for the game that we collaborated on called…errr…The Vault.
A darkly humorous sci-fi story, The Vault was developed through a partnership with the University of Adelaide’s ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions, the Queen Mary University of London and Monkeystack.
The Vault was nominated in five different categories – Best Console / PC Hardcore, Best Hardcore, Best Indie Game, Most Promising IP and the People’s Choice award, winning the Best Console / PC Hardcore Console and Best Indie Game categories. The awards are a pretty big deal with over 170 entries in 2018 from all around the world and only 11 awards given out!
On winning the awards, Justin said, “To be recognized at these awards and be judged the top of the class by executives from companies like Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft and EA Games is amazing. This is the second time we’ve been nominated and won awards at Game Connection, so Monkeystack’s ability to compete internationally and deliver serious games at a world-class level continues to grow. We’re really excited! The interactive space is evolving faster now than it has ever before and we’re very proud to be able to offer this level of export capability from South Australia locally, nationally and to the world.”
The Vault is currently in a ‘pre-alpha’ state with core concepts and functionality in place and will be released widely to the gaming community when fully developed.
