Monkeystack were asked to join forces with TRUCE Production and The TABOO Group to bring the first animated Transport Accident Commission (TAC) Split Second film to life.
Split Second is a unique competition that gives young Victorian storytellers an opportunity to submit a short film idea that will help raise awareness of road safety issues and change behaviours among young drivers. 2024 had a greater focus on reaching culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, and was the first time that two winning concepts were selected – including the competition’s first ever animation.
Young creative and animation student Olivia Hartanto submitted her ‘Captain Buckle’ concept, which was selected as a winner to be professionally developed and produced. Monkeystack managed all things animation, working closely with production company TRUCE, agency Taboo Group and Olivia throughout character and story design, scripting and 2D animation production.
The final short film was screened at a special event hosted by TAC and launched across social channels. Captain Buckle gathered media coverage including Campaign Brief, AdNews, Best Ads on TV, Little Black Books and Pedestrian TV.
